Happy New Year!
As we begin 2018, we want to take a moment to thank you for your active participation in helping to make 2017 a great year for the ASA! We are so grateful for your ongoing, faithful prayer and financial support as it means a lot to us.
God is clearly at work in our midst and we look forward with anticipation to the opportunities he has in store for us in the coming days. Please stay tuned for upcoming communications in which we will provide you with 2017 highlights and 2018 exciting new initiatives.

Southern California Local Chapter
The annual Winter Day Conference is rapidly approaching on Saturday, January 27 from 9 am to 5 pm at California Baptist University in Riverside. Our annual Winter Day Conference features plenary talks by Executive Council members Terry Gray and John Wood, as well as a variety of contributed talks and discussions on topics related to science and faith. It will also be a great opportunity to hear from ASA leaders about their vision for the future direction of the ASA. If you live in the area, please consider joining us. As always, feel free to invite friends, family, colleagues, pastors or others as a way to introduce them to the ASA. Click here to register.
Upcoming Executive Council Meeting
The Executive Council along with Leslie and Vicki will be convening in beautiful, southern California on Friday, January 26 for their semi-annual in-person meeting. Please be in prayer for us as we conduct business, including the visionary and strategic future direction of the ASA.
Silicon Valley Local Chapter Launch
If you live in the Silicon Valley, please join Leslie and Vicki this Sunday, January 21 at 5 pm at Starbird Restaurant, 1241 W. El Camino Real in Sunnyvale for the launch of a new local chapter. We are looking forward to kicking off the Silicon Valley Chapter of the ASA!
Call for Abstracts - ASA 2018
It's time to consider submitting an abstract for presentation at next July's Annual Meeting at Gordon College in Wenham, MA. See the call for abstracts here. Please note the deadline is quickly approaching on February 15 so don't delay.
ASA Presence at the AAAS in Austin, TX
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will hold its annual conference this February 15-19 in Austin, TX. Leslie will attend on behalf of the ASA and man our booth at the exhibit hall. If you are planning to attend this conference, make sure to stop by and say hello! Also stay tuned for more information on an ASA dinner opportunity during the week.

Annual Fund and Capital Fund Campaigns
We are very grateful for the many generous year-end gifts. Gifts and pledges to date are shown in the thermometers above. Please consider a gift and donate online here to help us reach our goals by the end of our fiscal year on March 31, 2018.
ASA Career Center
Did you know there is a Career Center on the ASA website? This is a great resource for posting jobs or to learn about job openings. Job openings are posted free of charge for ASA members or institutions affiliated with the ASA. For more information click here.
Successful Student Membership Drive
Our Fall Student Membership Drive was a great success thanks to all of you! We welcomed 224 new student members, exceeding our goal of 200. A total of 45 colleges and universities across the globe participated. The winner of our drive competition is Grand Canyon University, adding 85 students to their already active chapter congratulations!California Baptist University received second place with 53 new students. Both universities will receive funds for their local chapters. We are excited to grow our ASA student population and continue to share our mission with the next generation.
CSCA, our Canadian affiliate, has assembled some excellent video recordings on science and faith. Please check them all out at this link.
